The color in my hair had completely faded out over the course of the summer so it was time to visit Dairdre. I liked having my hair black most of the way around with a pop of color in the front, but I was ready to try something more daring or at least in a different color tone than I’ve used before.
TEA TREE OIL
I was under a lot of stress, so the appointment was right on time. I must have been wearing my stress on my face because Dairdre picked up on it right away. Ladies, you know when you’re holding it together and someone asks you if you’re ok and you just burst into tears? It was basically one of those moments. One of the many things I love about Dairdre is that she cares about her clients as a whole, not just their hair.
I was puzzled when Dairdre asked me to give me her hand. She reached into her bag and pulled out what she explained was tea tree oil and began to massage my forearm and hand. It really really helped me to relax. Dairdre explained some of the benefits of tea tree oil such as its effectiveness as an antiseptic (read more here). Once she finished massaging both forearms and hands, she had me cup my hands around my nose and take in deep breaths, inhaling the tea tree oil fragrance. I tell you, I was completely transformed and forever grateful by the time she finished, and this wasn’t even why came to her! I, too, like natural remedies so I plan to scoop up some tea tree oil to have at home.
Now onto hair…
BEFORE
My hair was basically different tones of brown, and you could clearly see the new growth in the front. We looked through the hair color swatches and mutually decided on a plum color in the front and darkening the rest of my hair to black.
AFTER
Dairdre used Davines products again on my hair (see list of products at the end of this post). I’m a creature of habit, and had been leery of changing over from Aveda, but I was completely sold this time. You can look at my hair in this blog post versus early blog posts and see the difference- particularly in softness and curl definition/control. For the first time, I had that salon “bounce” that I recall from my relaxer days where my hair had some movement. I was able to go 3 days without using any additional product, and on day 4 it was fine but getting to be a bit fuller than I personally desired. Again, I never could pull off that many days with Aveda’s Brilliant products. A second day was a stretch. So now, I’m using up my remaining Aveda product and transitioning over to Davines full time. It’s a difficult product line to find in the US, but you can certainly reach out to Dairdre especially if you’re local to the Columbus, Ohio area and try it out; or better yet, let her do your hair and show you how to use the products before buying.
As far as the color, it was darker than I hoped, but I know it lightens as it dries and in general over time.
EYEBROW WAX
As always, Dairdre keeps my eyebrows lookin’ sharp, too!
